Hotel highlight was the friendliness of the staff. Hotel is not in a great location, although it is walkable to all the main sights - good walking. Hotel is a bit dated, bed was really hard & lighting grim. Although there is nothing wrong, it is not a hotel you want to spend much time. It does the job however...

Distance to central railway station was 10 min. by foot. It was easy to catch buses from railways station to any destination into the city. (Trams are also near hotel.) Was worried about the adjacent XXX movie theater from reading the reviews. No reason to worry, the place is not even noticeable. (There is no noise, no foot traffic and no pictures on the windows.) The hotel was older but clean. The breakfast buffet was also much better than we had expected. A large variety of rolls and cresant-type breads have been added to the sweet rolls, cereal, yoghurt etc. All staff was pleasant and we were able to leave our bags after check-out to do a little sightseeing - we would stay again.

This hotel is very easy to find, the neighborhood is ok nothing to worry about and there are several convienient resuarants. It takes about 10 minutes and two turns to get to the train and metro stations. The staff is helpful and the rooms are clean. Only thing needed is english language tv, and yes I know you're in Rome:)

Some of the staff were very nice, others were rude. The rooms were cleaned daily, but were overall dirty (the carpet was very worn and brown). Bathroom was extremely small, shower was practically unusable (I am a petite, average weight college student). Air conditioning is difficult to adjust, it is either too hot or too cold. Also, the air blows right in the face of the person who sleeps on the closer bed. Location is convenient to Termini, but further away than they would have you think. Literally around the corner from a porn theater. Down the street from armed guards. In a safe neighborhood, with a close by grocery store. It was pretty cheap, and some of the staff made the stay pretty pleasant, but I think you can find better in the neighborhood for the same price.

This hotel was overpriced relative to hotels in the area. There is a XXX Movie Theatre next door and it is NOT within walking distance from Termini if you have to drag luggage. In the evening, I would not consider the neighborhood 'safe.' None of the concierges were helpful and one was even condescending. This was the last hotel I stayed in during my European vacation and it was the worst. I would not recommend staying at this hotel.

the location is convenient to the train station. the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. the hotel was extremely well maintained with a charming atmosphere (loved the cage elevator). the room was adequate with modern bathroom facilities. I was primarily looking for a comfortable and safe place to sleep because I spent most of the day sight-seeing. The Monte Carlo was actually better than I had hoped for and I would stay there again on a future holiday.

I was traveling by myself and wanted to feel safe near the train station. Based on other people's review, I thought the Monte Carlo would fit the bill....and it did. Great hotel. Good location. The front desk person at night when I checked in was great. The guy the next morning wasn't as friendly. My only negative with the hotel room was the lack of plugs to plug my phone charger in. It was also a bit dark, even with all the lights turned on. I was there when the big earthquake hit and am happy to say, nothing came crashing down. The hotel is well built.

Great location!! Less than 10 minute walk to subway, 15 min to tremini. Never had to take a cab anywhere. Staff very fluent in english. Beds are comfortable and shower was great. When I go back to rome I will definetly stay here again. By the way there is an english speaking tavern right down the road that is open late, something that was hard to find in italy.

We were looking for a convenient hotel that was walking distance to the train station and this hotel was exactly that. The staff were courteous and helpful. The room was good size and reasonably clean, albeit lacking decor. The bathroom was clean, decent size, and modern. The room walls were thin and we had some noisey neighbors who kept us up much of the night, even after the management asked them reduce the noise level. The breakfast was very nice with a good assortment of fresh fruit, cereals, pastries, and beverages. I would stay again and hope I don't get noisey neighbors.

We were very pleased with this hotel. The room was so quiet, even for afternoon naps. The included breakfast was a bit lacking, but that seems to be the European way. Just rolls and yogurt. The front desk always had someone there and everyone was very helpful. It's close to the main train station, but not close to the attractions so we walked quite a bit. If you don't want to walk then stay closer into town, or plan on a taxi back to the hotel each day.

At walking distance from Termini, Villa Borghese and the town centre, very safe area with a couple of embassies nearby, which means presence of police and even armed soldiers. The area is quiet and clean. The hotel has been very recently renovated as everything seemed new and in good working order. Staff very kind and helpful. Single rooms are quite small, not suitable for American standards, if you know what I mean (sorry!).

The Montecarlo was very easy to find and was in good walking distance of the train station. There are some good restaurants close by. The shower was very small - but other than that - it was good. The only thing I didn't like was I booked two rooms together and I wanted them by each other and we ended up being on the 1st floor and the 3rd floor which we didn't like - but we survived. The continental breakfast was very good. I would recommend this hotel to others if you are looking for convenient, clean and affordable.

I was very pleased when I arrived at the hotel Montecarlo in Rome, it was in a perfect location, 5min walk from the Termini station which is fantastic to get around the city. I only stayed for 3 days so did not really have time to get everywhere on foot so the location was the best it could be without it being next to the station! The room was incredibly clean and quaint but with modern features. The bathroom was also very clean and they provided you with toilettries and fresh towels every day. The only thing that could be a problem was the size of the shower as it was a little small, and I am only 5ft 3!! Would definatley recomend this hotel for its location and cleanliness, I will definatley be staying here again next Summer on my next visit!!

The hotel is close to the train station, it is in a rather quiet area and close to a subway station, very easy access location. I love the style of the hotel and the room is small but decorated very nicely. There is safe box in the room which is good. The area is very safe, I have walked around in 3am and it is actually kind of beautiful. The breakfast is OK, but it is very European I guess, simple and easy. Overall, it is a great place, the waitress at the breakfast is very kind and sweet, I really like her. The morning front desk guy is also very friendly.

Depending on how long you plan to stay this hotel may not be too bad. I only stayed for one night. It is located on the side of Termini Station where no main attractions are. The area of the hotel isn't too bad (other than the xxx theater next door). The hotel is cleaner than I had expected and comfortable enough to relax in, although the room was small which is to be expected in europe. There were two employees that were very nice and one that was very rude and even hung up on me when I called down to the desk asking about the internet. If you plan to use their PAY internet make sure you have a LAN cable to plug into the wall, otherwise you can use their computer on the main floor. They did provide an adapter for me to use which was kind. More positive than negative for my review..and clean enough to go back to for one night.

The service was outstanding. Comfortable and prompt transportation to the airport was arranged for us for the following morning by the front desk person. Probably the only thing lacking was the size of the beds. We had very narrow twin beds which gave the feeling you might fall off when you fell asleep. However, we didn't do that and ended up having a very comfortable night's sleep. I thought it was a very good value and would stay there again.

The hotel was close to Termini Station, which is good, but Rome's subway system isn't as extensive as other major European cities. The hotel was rundown in many aspects. Overall, the staff was friendly, but we had very little encounters with them. There was one concierge (don't know his name) who was snotty and unknowledgeable (sp?) and unhelpful. He was rude to me when I asked questions. Just to be specific so the wrong man does not get the blame, this man was in his 30's or 40's with a full head of grayish hair. He is not the bald man or the older man, both of whom were very nice. An example of one conversation with the unhelpful concierge: Me: Do you know if it's supposed to rain tomorrow, too? Him: How should I know? Only God knows that. Me: I just thought you may have seen the whether. Later in the same conversation... Me (with a map): I was hoping you can tell me the easiest way to get from the Colosseum to Campo del Fiori (sp?). Him: Well of course. I have lived here for a while. Take a bus from the Colosseum to the Piazza, but I don't know the number of the bus or the times it runs.

- The room was dark. - The bathroom was smelly at night and it was not very clean. Very sad looking bathroom. No bath tub (not a big deal, but just FYI). - Heater didn't work both in the room and bathroom. - Breakfast was very sad. They had a coffee machine that made bad coffee. No fruits. No meat/ham. They provide bread and juice. I stopped eating breakfast after the 2nd day. - Location was good, not too far from the metro. It felt safe at night. - Reception was not super friendly but they were polite enough. I stayed at 5 hotels on my trip and this hotel is the worst. I stayed in cheaper hotels and they were better. I am comparing this hotel with the one I stayed at in Paris (same price and Paris isn't a cheaper city so I think it's fair to compare), this hotel is much much worse. The only good thing about this hotel is probably the location, it's relatively not too far from the metro.

I thought the hotel was a little pricey, considering the size of the room. But the location was great: equidistant from the Termini and Republica Metro stops. There were also many good restaurants in the area. The lack of electrical outlets in the room was unfortunate; bring a 1 to 3 plug converter. Internet was free (the RJ45 plug in the room, behind the TV, just worked); we picked up wireless and got the WEP key from the front desk. I think we were able to pick up a signal b/c we were above the lobby (where the access point is). The staff were very friendly and helpful. The map they give you is useful but not to scale (or so we think). Oh, to turn the lights on in the room, put the room key fob in the slot above the light switches. That one threw me for a bit.

We had 4 people staying a our room, so we wanted a room that would sleep 4 comfortably. We were given a room that had 4 twin beds. Two of the twin beds were pushed together to make a King size bed. This is typical in Europe. Morning breakfast was good: fresh danish, cereal, yogurt and muesli. Coffee machine made cappacino (we had at least 3 each morning!),white coffee and hot chocolate. Hotel was an easy 7-10 minute walk from Termini. Area was very safe. We came back to room each night after 10pm from Metro station. A good value for a 3 star hotel. No internet at hotel, but there are internet cafes in the neighborhood.

The hotel is right next door to a XXX adult theatre - Not a great location. There is not much of interest in the way of restaurants or city sights within an easy walk of the hotel, though it is within a reasonable walking distance to the metro which takes you to everything.
