Hotel Boreal - Nice

I travelled with a friend and we were given a twin room as requested. The room was clean but basic with no fridge and a TV set that was at least 6 feet from the ground. The bathroom was clean but there was no shower curtain and a curious half-sized bath. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly and I considered this to be a good value hotel for the price and the location which is right in the centre of town close to good resturants and facilities.

Basic but ideally located hotel 10 minutes from the train and bus from the airport (Number 99). Eating places around about. We had breakfast at the Cafe next door.

Friendly and helpful staff, pleasant albeit small rooms, great location just off the Place Massena. 10 minutes' walk to the old town and the sea front. Will definitely stay there again.

As 2 couples travelling together we found this hotel to be ideally located as a base to visit Nice. The facilities were excellent, the staff extremely helpful and the breakfast very good. Unfortunately the rooms were small with an ugly outlook, but had everything we needed. Would definitely revisit.

The hotel is well located, about half-way in between the train station and the beach. We walked from the train station in about 10-15 minutes with our luggage. Same time to the beach. About 20 minutes to old-town Nice. Elevator available. The room was on the smaller side, but clean. AC, flat-screen TV and private bathroom. Bathtub without a shower curtain. Breakfast cost extra, so we did not eat there.

Good breakfast with convenient hours. Very helpful and friendly desk clerks. A very French feel even though there were many non-French tourists. We would go back.

We were very impressed with this hotel as a budget friendly option in an excellent location in Nice. The bedroom was not very large but was cool despite the quite high temperature outside. The hotel was also very clean and we had a spacious ensuite bathroom. I would stay here again if visting Nice.

This is a very convenient location for exploring Old Nice and the beach. The room was a nice size by European standards, the front desk staff was very helpful and the room was clean and comfortable. We were very pleased with the Hotel Boreal.

The hotel has a fantastic location and is your typical budget hotel. The rooms are a good size and clean, although we stayed on the first floor and it can get quite noisy with the sound of the water pipes and people traffic. Staff were friendly and accomodating, we really appreciated the use of beach towels and communal shower on our last day there as we had a late flight. Parking is easy as well. I would definitely recommend it for a short stay. Keep away from Cafe Rouge next door though- the service was horrible when we went there. Took 30mins for our continental breakfast(coffee and crossaint) to arrive and it was quiet.

the room was suitable for two people (as it was a double). The shower does need a crtain but the wardrobe space was more than ample in size.The staff on reception were friendly. One suggestion would be to have akettle and refreshments in the room but overall it was very good.

The hotel's location is perfect; the train station, shops and beach are within easy walking distance. I was very impressed with my room and the breakfast is good value at 9 euros. I will definitely go back to this hotel next time.

The section that we were in did not have an elevator and we had to haul our baggage several floors up. Room size was OK by European standards and our room had a nice balcony. Room furniture was sparse and unfortunately when we checked in (at 8:30PM) the bed sheets were not changed (they had hair on them) and we had to go to the desk and get clean sheets. The desk clerk was apologetic and helpful. Bathroom had no shower and there were no directions as to how to use the phone (dialing "0" would not work and we could not figure it out) No electric outlet at the desk in the room and unfortunately the Internet would not work in our room. I had to go down the stairs to get Internet reception. Breakfast was minimal but cheap and for the money it was OK.

The Hotel Boreal is located a short walk from the Cours Saleya Flower Market and the Promenade des Anglais waterfront area. Free overnight parking is available on the street (you must pay to remain from 9a-12p and 2p-6p, but the rates are very reasonable). There is also a garage nearby if street parking is unavailable, but we had no trouble finding a space right in front of the hotel both nights we stayed. The night clerk was so friendly and helpful when we showed up late at night! The room was small, but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was nice, but pricey - you'd be better off finding something outside the hotel. This is a great place to base your stay in Nice.

Hotel location felt safe, quite close to all amenities, Checked it out on google earth first which gave poor perspective on distances. Its not far at all from the main street/city centre. 10 minute walk to bus for the airport and the old town tourist attraction. Only negative was poor soundproofing of the room which would not take much to fix if the owners would put up an extra partition. Heard the female next door having sex for about 2 hours which was rather frustrating lol.

I write this review as an American. The hotel is decent, not a bad price. The bathrooms have no shower curtains, but the hotel offers free wifi--a rarity in Europe. The front desk was helpful and it really isn't far from the train station at all (once you locate where you're going). It's close to the beach, the main drag of Nice, and it's in a nice neighborhood. The beds and room aren't much to look at, but all in all, not bad. Breakfeast for 9 Euros

Easy walking distance from Nice train station and the beach Very helpful staff and good buffet breakfast (9E extra). Plenty of good bistros in the area for lunch/dinner. Bathrooms nice (other than you must hold the shower head in one hand), bed softness just okay, pitiful pillows. However, big windows to let in the light and open to the street. Wireless internet was free.

We hired a car and which i highly recomend due to the amount there is to see and do nearby to nice & the parking was brilliant at this hotel as we managed to park free for most of th week end.the location of this hotel is superb and the staff were very friendly.would definately go back

I chose the hotel from the website descriptions and the customer ratings. I was more than satisfied with this hotel, and will most likely stay there on my next visit to Nice.

This is a pretty darn good little hotel! The location is fantastic! A half block from the main shopping area of Nice and a half block from the metro line. The room was sparse but clean and comfortable. My bathroom only had a tub with a handheld nozzle, but such is life. The breakfast buffet was decent, but no hot food (because they don't have a kitchen for cooking). That said, it was filling and tasty. The staff was very helpful. They seemed to enjoy showing off their town, giving helpful hints and taking the time to understand what you want for your vacation and help find it. I would recommend this hotel. It is a very solid three star European hotel.

It was lovely to receive a very warm welcome from the chap on reception even though we were arriving well after midnight and pleased to say everyone we met at the hotel had the same ready smile and helpful attitude. The hotel is in a really good situation, a quiet side street off one of the main thoroughfares and whilst the room was compact, the bed was wonderful and led to a great night's sleep. Lovely breakfast buffet with plenty of fresh fruit on offer, We hadn't planned our return to the airport but received excellent advice from the lovely lady on reception and a range of price options one of which was a transfer for 29 euros for two of us and our luggage, whilst not as cheap as a bus it picked us up at the hotel and was so easy it's well worth it!

The staff was consistently friendly and knowledgeable.

ideal base for exploring Nice or further afield, walking distance (8min) to station and not much further to prom and town centre. (or get a tram from outside the hotel). Hotel clean and friendly.

Excellent hotel in a perfect position for shopaholics as it is situated just off the main shopping street in the centre on Nice. Despite it's central position the area was uiet and safe at night and easy and quick to get to from the cities restaurant district. Service was excellent. Hotel room was basic but clean and comfortable but unfortunately had no English channels on the TV, and the view from the window was the back of some buildings. But for the price(50% the advertised price, thanks to hotels.com) it was extremely good value.

We had a two night stay in the Boreal. Friendly staff, good smallish rooms, plenty of towels and hot water. Good breakfast. Even the loan of the hoover for our vacumed bagged luggage.! Reception spoke good English. Short walk to train station and very close to the tram line.

The Hotel was in a great location, not too far from train station and not too far from downtown (Promenade, Old Nice, etc). The front desk is also very helpful. Albeit, the room we had was tiny, we didn't really spend much time in it at all. Overall, I recommend this place.

The hotel is conveniently situated in the centre of Nice and ten minutes walk from the bus and railway stations. It is convenient for the beach and the Old Town. The breakfast is good, but let down by the coffee machines. Reasonably priced. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

We loved Hotel Boreal - great location to explore Nice from (all on foot), although you could also take the tram which runs along Rue Jean Medecine only about 100yards from the hotel. Hotel itself in very quiet street. COntinental Breakfast during week more than enough with fresh baguette, croissants and eggs to be boiled to liking. Hotel also only 8min walk from train station, where one can take bus 99 which is the direct link to and from the airport(both Terminals)(4 Euros). Altogether and especially for the deal we got a super hotel!

This hotel is very clean and centraly lokated. Stuff is very polite. Very clean room. Breakfest is preaty good. I will go again in this hotel.

Good quiet location, just off Jean Medecen. Access to tram, buses, railway station, shops galore, the sea, Messena, Avenue des Anglais, all within walking distance (even the nine year old didn't complain). Nice young staff very helpful. English spoken, but not preferred (some staff more fluent than others). Reading room with books in several languages a pleasant plus. Would go again. Read other reviews complaining about the breakfast, but for us it was adequate and convenient.

Clean, convenient location, and the staff was courteous and helpful

Considering we booked ahead, on the Internet and therefore paid a fair price, this hotel, for us, was value for money. Its proximity to the station, town centre and sea front was ideal but we were disappointed with the (lack of!) view from our bedroom and although adequate, the range of cereal/fruit juice/fresh fruit etc at breakfast was limited. I did ask for honey to go with the plain yoghurt and this was subsequently provided.

rooms comfortable could have done with a shower curtain. bath room got soaked because no shower curtain.hotel very nice but get a bus to hotel taxi cost us 40 euros bus 6 euros each. tyake your own rum they don't stock it in bar!

My wife and I had a 5 night stay at Hotel Boreal. We found it well situated in the city centre - 10 minute walk into the old town and to the beach. The staff were courteous and friendly. The room, while a little small, was quite adequate with good clean facilities. Towels were replaced each day and the room well cleaned. Breakfast was a basic continental breakfast - coffee, yoghurt, cereals, breads, croissants - but quite enough for our needs. There were vending machines (drinks and snacks), a small bar and a lounge area, but we did not make use of any of these. If you are looking for a place to stay but are going to be out around the town, rather than sitting in your room, this should suit you. We would use the hotel again.

we have stayed twice at the Hotel Boreal and found it suited us fine ,good location half way between the Gare Routier and the railway station. Staff were very helpful ,we always have the same room with a balcony which was nice and clean,nice places to eat on the same quiet road.just one tiny complaint theres no toast at breakfast. all in all anice hotel.

This hotel was in a good, safe area. It was convenient and easy to find. We enjoyed our balcony looking out over the street. The hotel staff was at times less than helpful. The room was clean and perfectly adequate.

We stayed on a package rate which was great value for money. The rooms are quite basic, but have everything you need. Bathroom was not the best design, but for the rate was acceptable. What makes this hotel great is the service. Very friendly front desk staff who are helpful and knowledgeable.

Our stay at the Hotel Boreal was comfortable, the room was quite small but adequate for our needs and clean, new towels and the bed made everyday. They offered a reasonable continental breakfast. As the hotel is in a small street there are no fantastic views, however it is close to the shops and a ten minute walk to the beautiful sea front. One thing we were not happy with was the extra charge for city tax as we thought this was included in price, so watch out for this. All in all though a good hotel for the money and we would stay again.

Very handy for Tram stop a hundred meteres away on main shopping street.One tram stop north of Messena Square which is the nicest square fountains in Nice.Also Easy walk to bus and train stations and numerous eating places.shops .

A clean tidy hotel, centrally situated which enabled us to see much of Nice and its surroundings in our 8 day stay. Good breakfast and clean room with new en suite bathroom. Staff were helpful and enabled us to make the most of our stay

Four of us stayed from 2 - 6 Oct 2008 and could not fault hotel. Very clean, staff excellent and so friendly and breakfast more than adequate for continental.

My wife and I spent four nights at Hotel Boreal. Service was good and our room was clean but small. There was not a single piece of paper in the room about the hotel or facilities or sightseeing. Hotel telephone number was not available anywhere. THe hotel location is excellent with supermarket ,tram station and shopping centre nearby. Beds were small and mattresses not even. Overall, we were satisfied.

Small hotel just 5mins walk from centre of town, the old town and the railway station. Trams stop almost outside the door, so very convenient. Very clean, helpful staff with good English. Bathroom very modern and clean. Room comfortable and slightly small as all city hotels are. Great value, clean, excellent position. Would use again.

Good things about Hotel Boreal: 1. Great location - adjacent to two cafes and the main blvd, but off the main streetenough so its not to noisy. Also a short walk to the beach or the train station. 2. Great staff - very courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable 3. Rooms larger than expected with new bathrooms - also very clean Not so good things: 1. No shower curtain 2. Maybe the furniture was older but it was comfortable and clean

The hotel was centally located. The staff were extremley helpful and friendly. While the bedroom was very small it was spotlessly clean and room service occured every day.
